James Purnell

He blends into the city hustle. Loves his food. Knows his beer. He is always up for a ride. James makes London, London.

He works with a suicide charity. We tagged along as he cycled to his favourite spots in the city.

“London is an exciting place to be in. I live close to Hackney Wick which has some of the best bars and breweries. Then there's the food market of Victoria Park. I love checking out the street art gallery on the Leake Street Arches. You'll find new things there all the time.”

“Food is my passion. I think about it most of my day. I love to cook, bake and eat! What's for lunch?”

“Right now I'm reading 'Lost Connections' by Johan Hari. But the one book that resonated with me was 'A Little Life' by Hanya Yanagihara. It's a deeply moving story about four guys living in New York. I couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks.”

James is currently working on a project that integrates Artificial Intelligence into his charity's webchat service. Streamlining the service, he hopes, will ultimately help reduce the number of suicides.
